University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC)

The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) is a global centre of advanced machining and materials research for aerospace and other high-value manufacturing sectors.

Over 60 companies have joined as members, from global giants such as Boeing, Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems, to local SMEs. Employing around 200 researchers and engineers, we have helped over 200 other businesses in the Yorkshire region alone.

The AMRC is a world leader in high-performance machining research – our researchers can typically improve the efficiency of a machining process by around 40 percent. Other core research groups focus on intelligent assembly; advanced structural testing; and composite and hybrid components.
